Notes from the River | January 2024

Friends, welcome to 2024!

We’d be lying if we said we were anything other than thrilled for this year…the year we fling open our doors! We got so excited about the prospect that we jumped the gun and held our first event in early January. Watch this video recap to see how it went.

We decided that using the space, whether its renovation is complete or not, is the best way to connect with the community and keep momentum going. With that, we scheduled events for the rest of the winter and spring. We would love to have you at any and all of these gatherings.

Poetry Share: Friday, February 2, 10-11am

Bring your favorite poem. Discover a new one. Read it aloud, let it ripple through the crowd. Coffee and tea and community.

Two Odd Foxes: Friday, March 1, 5-7pm

Join us for an evening of good music with this Missoula-based duo playing and singing folk, blues, and Americana.

Community Work Day: Friday, April 5

Help us out by getting your hands dirty. More details coming soon.

 RSVP for a First Friday

We also took the first few days of this year to revamp our website, adding more information and optimizing the user experience. If you haven’t yet, give it a look. Our Donate, About, and Event pages got a nice face life (but honestly, we worked on every page). Our hope is that the website is an excellent representation of our passion for serving this community and nurturing the arts.

We are still working every day to raise the funds we need to continue renovating the cabin. We have to raise $10,230 more to accomplish our goal of opening in the spring (with amazing things like a bathroom, running water, heat, and furniture!). Please help us out by donating, passing our website along to a friend, or sharing family foundations or community grants you are aware of with us.

Thank you so very much for the support you gave us in 2023, whether in person or online, through donation or encouragement, each act means a great deal to us and inspires us for what this place can bring to the community at large.

And for a little bit of housekeeping — if you donated $$ in 2023, your tax-deductible letter is coming by mail at the end of this month! If you’d rather have a PDF emailed, just reply to this by the 20th and we’ll send it straight away.

With gratitude, Caroline & Melissa
