Who Are We???

So who are we???

Hello! You may know some of us, all of us, or none of us…but we figured it was time to say hello and show the faces of River Arts & Books.

This is a group effort — from a shared dream between Melissa and Caroline to the incredible work of Korth Construction to local support we’ve had from Ariel and many others — bringing this vision to life is the result of many. Allow us to introduce ourselves:

As somebody deeply consumed with land stewardship, I see healthy, functioning communities as dependent in large part on the health of the lands in which they're situated; I'm glad to be joining the River Arts & Books board because the organization will help strengthen this bond between people and place.

Roscoe is the beloved place where my family gathers from all four corners of the US, and that is why I am eager to see River Arts transformed from a dream into a welcoming and vibrant community space.

So where are we???

We have made wonderful progress in the last few weeks (all thanks to Rob and his team of Mike, Dustin, and Jake). The drywalling and mudding has been complete, and as we type the texture and paint are underway. Next week the floors will go in, and we’ll really be cooking.

We are working to raise $10,000 in these last six weeks of 2023 to complete the renovation of the cabin. We are in the midst of several grant applications on the local and state level, but many of these are not awarded until the summer of 2024. To reach our goal of opening in the spring, we need to secure more funds.

If you are able to give, we deeply appreciate every dollar! Donating money is not the only way to help, however. You may know of other individuals or organizations with the ability to donate. You may know of grants and foundations we have not yet discovered, or you may know someone who would be interested in River Arts’ mission. Sharing our newsletter or our website with others is a huge help as we grow our audience beyond the Roscoe area. However you’re able, your support means the world to us.
